Alia Apartments offers fully renovated, family-run seaside apartments created with love and care by the Cheretakis family. The name “ALIA” comes from Greek mythology – Alia was a mermaid, a daughter of the sea and wife of Poseidon, blessed with seven children. Inspired by this mythological connection to the sea and our deep love for the ocean at our doorstep, we have crafted a warm and welcoming retreat where you will feel right at home. As a gesture of our hospitality, upon your arrival you’ll find a special welcome gift: our own homemade olive oil, traditional Cretan tsikoudia (raki), and wine, so you can immediately enjoy the authentic flavors of Crete as you begin your holiday.

 

Accommodation

Each apartment can accommodate up to 4 guests and features a modern layout with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. One bedroom offers a comfortable double bed and its own spacious en-suite bathroom, while the second bedroom is furnished with two single beds (which can be joined into a double if needed) and has a second bathroom just across the hallway. In the hallway you will also find a private laundry room with a washing machine for your convenience – perfect for longer stays or families.

Every apartment includes a fully equipped kitchen with all the appliances, cookware, and tableware you might need to prepare meals, as well as a comfortable living room area for you to relax and spend quality time. Large windows allow abundant natural light and provide an unobstructed view of the sea, giving you the delightful feeling of being almost “at sea” even while indoors. Each apartment is also surrounded by a spacious balcony, where you can indulge in panoramic views of the Cretan Sea – an ideal spot to admire the breathtaking sunset in the evenings and unwind to the soothing sound of the waves.

Alia Apartments are located just 10 meters from the shore on the sandy beach of Drapanias, in the bay of Kissamos (Chania, Crete). This wonderful seaside location means you can enjoy a morning swim literally a few steps from your door. Along the nearby beachfront road, you will find traditional tavernas where you can savor authentic Cretan cuisine and local wine right by the water. The area is peaceful and ideal for those seeking tranquility and relaxation away from the tourist crowds, allowing you to unwind to the gentle sea breeze and the sound of the waves.

At the same time, our location in Drapanias makes a perfect base for exploring the beauty of western Crete. The port of Kissamos is only a 10-minute drive away, where daily boat trips depart to the famous Balos Lagoon – one of the most breathtaking spots in the Mediterranean. Other renowned beaches such as the golden sands of Falassarna and the exotic Elafonisi island beach are within easy reach by car, offering memorable day trip opportunities. If you’re in the mood for a touch of city life and culture, the picturesque city of Chania is about a 30-minute drive to the east – perfect for an evening stroll around its Venetian harbor and charming Old Town.
